Fithian

The village of Fithian was founded in 1830 and named after Dr William Fithian, a friend of Abraham Lincoln. It had a population of 506 as of the 2000 census. Fithian is a rural community between Danville and Champaign-Urbana.

Fithian is located approximately 120 miles south of Chicago, 30 miles east of Champaign-Urbana (home to the University of Illinois), and 90 miles west of Indianapolis, Indiana. Interstate 74 runs past on the north end of the village. Children in Fithian attend Oakwood High School situated several miles east of town.
